Installation: The hook is inserted horizontally into the side hole or end hole of the container’s top corner casting, and then rotated downward to lock securely in place.

Load Direction: Upward.
Classification: Although the hook is attached via the side/end holes, this hoisting method is strictly classified as a “Top Lift” rather than a “Side Lift.” In the rigging industry, “Side Lift” (or Bottom Lift) typically refers to hoisting operations performed using the corner casting holes at the bottom of the container.
Operation Principles: Once the four hooks are inserted into the side holes of the container’s four top corner castings, the overhead chains or wire ropes pull straight upward. This setup is commonly used in conjunction with a spreader beam to keep the lifting slings vertical or at a very acute angle. Consequently, the entire weight and load distribution of the container are concentrated on the four top corners.
